Our Baby is Growing Up!

The caterpillar is beginning to make a chrysalis.  He chose an interesting site, directly above an older existing chrysalis, although there are other pieces of wood in the box; this provides a mirror image of what he will become.   There is a very thin thread coming from the bottom of his body; it is attached to the wood with a white webby spot.  There is another attachment at his tail.  As the day goes on, he is arching more, and in some of the photos I can see the beginnings of the brown scaly plate that will be his shell.  This is so exciting!
