Stalking

Flies are less easily spooked than, say, the damselflies that flare up like long turquoise dust motes when I come into their territory.  A fly will sit there and rub its little fly feet together through a surprising amount of disturbance, but it does not trust things that come between it and the sun.  Don't block the light or you will lose your subject.
