Peace
As this rose opens it gets lighter and lighter til it is a translucent glowing pale cream tipped with soft pink, reminding me of the colors in the magic Japanese Clamshell Water Flowers that were common toys years ago. I think you bought them at the five and dime, small closed clamshells about an inch and a half across, sealed with a tiny strip of paper. When placed in water, the paper hinge dissolved, the shell opened and a brightly colored paper flower emerged. These flowers were the most unearthly colors, and I never saw them in nature til we planted this rose.

Your rose pictures are magnificent. Just Joey was my dad's favorite and I planted one in a pot in his memory many years ago. Peace is exquisite and is one of my all time best growers. I remember those Japanese Water Flowers as a child, seeing them at the back of American comics. We couldn't buy the flowers here and my sisters and I yearned after them for many years.
