We are camped near the base of Glacier Point. For over 80 years the nighttime entertainment here was the Yosemite Firefall: at 9 pm as the gathered crowd fell silent, a man would call upward to the top of the mountain, "Let the fire fall!," and a faint reply could be heard from the point. Then a great bonfire of red fir bark would be pushed evenly over the edge of the cliff, appearing to the onlookers below as a glowing waterfall of sparks and fire. They don't do this any more.
