Glacier Point

We are camped near the base of Glacier Point.  For over 80 years the nighttime entertainment here was the Yosemite Firefall:  at 9 pm as the gathered crowd fell silent, a man would call upward to the top of the mountain, "Let the fire fall!," and a faint reply could be heard from the point.  Then a great bonfire of red fir bark would be pushed evenly over the edge of the cliff, appearing to the onlookers below as a glowing waterfall of sparks and fire.  They don't do this any more.
