Remembrance

This one's for my father, who could call cardinals by whistling their song.  After his funeral, I was standing alone by the car in the driveway and one magnificent crested red bird landed on the snowball bush just a few feet away.  We looked at each other a long time and said goodbye. I'd never seen a cardinal before, nor since.
