Overnight storm at Donner Summit. At 9 a.m. we were the first to break a trail through the trees. The snow was light and fluffy and so quiet.

Something came before us and left a message in the snow.

Snowbound
The snow on the roof melts all day and is replenished soon after by the next storm. Some of the ground floor windows are covered by drifts until way into spring, and icicles form, lengthen and snap to their own rhythm.
